In addition, Atlas xl is an add-in for Microsoft Excel, which allows access to all Dynamics Ax data without requiring an understanding of relational database concepts or the structured query language (SQL). With Atlas xl users can create reports and analyse data directly in Excel. Required information can be retrieved on demand and is refreshed from Dynamics Ax and placed in a spreadsheet. The result is a direct and seamless link between Dynamics Ax and Microsoft Excel. Dynamics Ax appears as a dropdown menu within Excel. The menu is consistent, and grouping functionality is similar to the Dynamics Ax Modules. With a valid Dynamics Ax username and password Atlas xl can report on Dynamics Ax data.

Axnosis has developed a BI engine in Dynamics Ax for Dynamics Ax to give users the power of Atlas XL and Microsoft® SQL Server™ Reporting Services. The engine supports ETL principles, but with the advantage of never leaving the Dynamics Ax environment. This engine incorporates:
- mapping rules on the Chart of Accounts to summarise GL accounts into Management Accounts,
and facilitates the:
- extraction and normalisation of OLTP tables, and the
- aggregation and consolidation of transactions.
