Service and Asset maintenance means the management and monitoring of the assets of an organisation to ensure optimal performance and to avoid losses due to break downs. It covers plant, equipment and facilities. SAM covers the management of the assets across departments, locations, facilities and, in some cases, business units. By managing assets across the enterprise can improve utilization, reduce capital costs, reduce asset-related operating costs and subsequently improve ROA (return on assets).

Dynamics Ax SAM

Dynamics Ax SAM was developed by Thy:data in Denmark. Thy:data is one of a few Ax partners with a long successful history with Microsoft Dynamics Ax. Thy:data has also developed the Shop Floor Control (SFC) module for Dynamics Ax and the SFC been incorporated into the core product. The Dynamics Ax SAM is fully integrated with Dynamics Ax Shop Floor Control. Therefore, time registrations can be made via Shop Floor Control. This again means that time registrations on work orders can be used for generating pay. In addition Dynamics Ax SAM is fully integrated with the rest of Ax. When planning the preventive maintenance, the production plan is automatically taken into consideration. Production stop caused by maintenance are entered in the production plan for the specific machines. Using preventive maintenance it is possible to run through the future production plan and from the expected number of production hours it is calculated when an object needs to be taken out of the plan for maintenance.
